Round or flat: Everything is possible
Braids are textile constructions which yarns cross each other in diagonal direction. The material used and the the size of the yarns can be very versatile, depending on the application. We distinguish between round braids and flat braids. The round braids have an oval or round cross section; according to the application we talk about strings (technique), cords (cloth), cable (electrical engineering) or ropes (medium and heavy execution). Flat braids are also called laces.
